Edge-Enabled V2X Service Placement for Intelligent Transportation Systems

Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication and services have been garnering significant interest from different stakeholders as part of future intelligent transportation systems (ITSs). This is due to the many benefits they offer. However, these stringent performance requirements, particularly in terms delay/latency. Multi-access/mobile edge computing (MEC) has proposed a potential solution for such by bringing them closer vehicles. Yet, this introduces new set challenges where place V2X services, especially given limit computation resources available at nodes. To that end, work formulates problem optimal service placement (OVSP) hybrid core/edge environment binary integer linear programming problem. best our knowledge, no previous considered while taking into consideration computational resource availability Moreover, low-complexity greedy-based heuristic algorithm named "Greedy Service Placement Algorithm" (G-VSPA) was developed solve Simulation results show OVSP model successfully guarantees maintains QoS requirements all services. Additionally, it observed G-VSPA achieves close having lower complexity.
